Keleigh Glisson spent a couple years working with Shevet Achim, in Israel. Shevet
Achim was founded in 1994 with the purpose of helping
non-Israeli children receive lifesaving medical care in Israel. The
name is taken from the Hebrew of Psalm 133, which promises that unity
between brothers leads to life; this can be true of the
troubled relationship between Isaac and Ishmael (Jews and Muslims) in
the Middle East.
Keleigh first heard about Shevet
Achim while teaching a summer English course in Amman Jordan in
2002. Keleigh is fluent in Hebrew and
would like to learn Arabic as well. In August of the following year
Keleigh moved to Jerusalem in order to pursue a Masters degree. During
this time she came to love both Arabs and Israelis, and in February
2008, on completion of her Masters
degree, Keleigh joined the Shevet team.
Keleigh recently resigned from Shevet and she is currently back in the states finishing some Masters work. Keliegh's parents, Jack and Linda,
are longtime Cornerstone members.
